"For me, photography started on a family camping trip a long time ago when my Dad showed me how to take nature photographs with his old Argus C3. While traveling and working in Europe at 21, photography became my passion. It was like a light bulb went on in my head. A longtime Ansel Adams fan, I saw a big show of his original work in San Francisco on a weekend trip and became even more appreciative of his amazing skill, immersing myself in the gray scale and Ansel’s insights into photography. The darkroom became my sanctuary – red lights glowing, radio humming along and hands in pungent chemicals that brought my concepts to life. I received my BFA in Art with a minor in Art History from California State University at Chico. Eventually my path led me back to the coast of California and to Monterey. Photographing my sister’s young kids, I discovered my love for finding that spirit inside of people - and capturing it on film. I constantly search for that “twinkle” in the eyes, and try to catch it in just the right light. Now the darkroom is my computer and my passion for photography has thankfully become my day’s work."
